To clad the 37,200-square-foot structure, Old Country Millwork supplied Four C’s Construction with approximately 8 tons of RHEINZINK’s architectural zinc. Four C’s fabricated the natural metal material into 12-inch-wide reveal wall panels and installed 7,600 square feet on the building’s exterior.

Design architect Alfonso Architects, Tampa, was tasked to create something special that departed from the brick buildings typically seen on hospital and college campuses. That variation led to the selection of Weathering Steel wall panels.

The building had evolved with a collection of additions and renovations – the goal was to preserve many of its architectural elements, including large window openings, some of which had been infilled.

The precision perforations in the wall panels allow outside air to travel through the face of the panel. Solar heated air at the surface of the panel is drawn through the perforations where it rises between the two walls and enters the building’s central ventilation system or supply fan.

The K-Roc panels utilize a mineral fiber insulation core which is best suited for fire protection. The 8-inch panel achieved a 3-hour rating based on ASTM E119/ULC-S101 testing.

CarbonCast High Performance Insulated Wall Panels, manufactured by AltusGroup precasters in North America, have had their evaluation report (ESR#2953) renewed by ICC Evaluation Service, reaffirming that the CarbonCast wall panels meet code requirements.
