Laminators Inc. announced Jeffrey W. Shriver, PE, CDT as its new Technical Sales Engineer and Nick Quartapella as its new Assistant Fabrication Project Lead.
Shriver, a Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, District of Columbia, Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to fulfill the numerous duties and responsibilities of the Technical Sales Engineer position. Having spent the last 9 years as a Senior Forensic Engineer and nine and a half years prior as a Structural Engineer, Shriver will undoubtedly be a solid asset to the Sales and Engineering teams.
Shriver earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from Penn State University, University Park, Pa. and recently passed CSI’s Construction Document Technician (CDT) exam. With his strong technical background and expertise, Shriver will be responsible for assisting the technical group with the design and implementation of testing protocols, the continued development of product specifications and technical literature. Shriver will also play a key role in new product research and development.
Quartapella comes to Laminators Inc. with a background in 3D – BIM (Building Information Modeling) Coordination. For over 10 years, Quartapella ran his own business generating and managing 3D representations of physical and functional characteristics of physical infrastructures across various trades including Mechanical (architectural), Electrical and Plumbing. Quartapella has also designed, fabricated and installed sheet metal and HVAC equipment for over 15 years.
He has held various positions as a mechanic, foreman, owner/president, project manager, application engineer and coordinator. In the Assistant Fabrication Project Lead position, Quartapella will perform a wide array of tasks such as develop field measurements through site visits, produce shop drawings, produce fabrication drawings, perform material takeoffs, and provide sales support relative to fabricated ACM products. Quartapella will be a vital asset in the fabrication department.
In addition, Laminators is proud to announce that James J. (JJ) Marks, who has been with the company for over a year, has passed his Principals and Practice of Engineering exam, making him a licensed professional engineer in the state of Pennsylvania. The licensure process for engineers is an 8 year process that involves getting an engineering degree from an accredited university, and then working under the supervision of licensed engineers for a period of no less than 4 years.
There are two eight-hour long exams that must be passed in order to attain licensure. The last exam, the Principals and Practice of Engineering exam, takes hundreds of hours of preparation and is similar in difficulty to other professional licensure examinations like the bar exam, the medical boards or the CPA exams.
Shriver and Marks report directly to Laminators’ Director of Engineering, Christopher Bucci, MEng.CE, PE.; Quartapella reports directly to Laminators’ National Sales Manager for the Architectural Division, Shawn Crouthamel.
