Optimizing Metal Roofs with High-Performance Coatings
July 31, 2024
As the push for renewable energy solutions gains momentum globally, reliance on solar roofing panels is expected to continue to increase. This has far-reaching implications for the construction industry, which must reconsider how buildings are constructed to support this growth.
When installing solar panels (typically warranted for 25 years of power generation), a building owner benefits from a roofing substrate that has a greater life expectancy than the solar panels. The solar panels can be installed to the metal panel seams using special clamps, without any roof penetrations.
Building Enclosure was recently joined by Tish Tablan, Program Director for Solar for All Schools with clean energy non-profit Generation180. Tish sat down with us to talk about the recent “Brighter Future” report that analyzes the progress of the solar movement and shares the success stories of schools that are leading the way.
AIA Committee on the Environment honors three renovated buildings with additions and one new build featuring high-performance solar control low-e glass by Vitro Architectural Glass.
The versatility of metal buildings is no longer a secret. More and more, architects and contractors are taking advantage of the benefits offered by metal buildings to grow the market.
Adding traditional solar has been the go-to solution for renewable energy, but what if other passive areas of the building envelope could be used more intelligently as well? One Silicon Valley company is doing just that. We asked Veeral Hardev, VP of Strategy at Ubiquitous Energy, what he thought about these changes.
Taking advantage of local and federal incentives to help pay for the project, McElroy Metal added solar panels to its manufacturing plant in Sunnyvale, Texas.
METALCON announced its new solar center sponsored by S-5! débuting this year in Tampa for business owners, designers, contractors, EPCs, solar developers and installers interested in learning more about the benefits of solar and metal roofing.
