This course will cover lath, flashing and cement plaster (stucco) with a focus on successful designs as well as failures from field investigations that we should all be learning from. Designers will be shown options that are proven to work as well as options that repeatedly present problems. Designers and contractors will learn about industry standards and how they can help or be used to hurt you.
Learning objectives:
- Identify and able to recognize the critical components required for a functional cement plaster assembly or building enclosure system regarding water and air infiltration.
- Assess the options for stucco designs with the related risk due to environmental factors for the structure.
- Explain the importance of proper design and installation practices for a stucco exterior that will perform as intended for the building owner.
- Determine available options and make design decisions through case studies of successful and failed projects using stucco.
