ANSI/SPRI ES-1 has been a code requirement for roof edge metal copings, fascia and gravel stop dating back to IBC 2003. Even though the requirement has tenure, understanding and design implementation still continues to be inconsistent. In this webinar, Mark S. Graham, Vice President, technical services for the National Roofing Contractors Association will provide an overview of the ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1-2017 test standard, discuss NRCA's ES-1 testing, explain how this testing can be applied to roof system designs and review NRCA's certification program for ES-1 compliance.
ANSI/SPRI GT-1, which applies to gutters, has also been incorporated into IBC 2021. GT-1 will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1-2017 test standard and how it is applied in the code.
- Explain NRCA's ES-1 testing and assess how specific metal edge flashing attributes can impact test performance
- Determine how ES-1 load resistance testing is applied to design wind loads derived from ASCE 7-16.
- Assess how NRCA's certification program can be used to document ES-1 testing and code compliance.
