Idaho-based Hempitecture is expanding its presence in Los Angeles with a new fulfillment hub. This strategic move will make it easier and more cost-efficient for architects, builders, and developers to access Hempitecture’s sustainable, fire-resistant building materials in one of the largest markets. With reduced shipping distances, the expansion strengthens the company’s commitment to accessibility and environmental responsibility, supporting LA as the community looks to rebuild following the devastating wildfires.
Hempitecture’s flagship products Hempcrete and Hempwool are leading building materials for fire prevention and protection, making the company’s increased accessibility to architects and contractors in Los Angeles as they look towards solutions that will prevent the spread of wildfires in the future. With this new warehouse, Hempitecture can offer lower shipping costs and more easily and quickly ship materials to partners in one of its top markets to support its existing Idaho facility.
In this new chapter, Hempitecture will continue to build on the reputation they have garnered in recent years as a reliable manufacturer that develops and brings healthier, more ecologically responsible building materials to market. With multiple product innovation awards, the company was perfectly positioned to expand to the Southern California region, attracting those who share their commitment to environmental stewardship and high-performance, low-carbon insulation.
“The first step in preventing future damage similar to what Los Angeles experienced earlier this year is building homes that are more resilient against fires instead of being the materials that fuel them. By being able to more easily deliver our products to our partners during this stage of rebuilding, we are helping create a safer future for the city,” said Hempitecture Founder and CEO Mattie Mead. “I look forward to utilizing our new facility to build on our existing relationships in California and cementing our industry reputation as a leader in sustainable product manufacturing.”
With its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Jerome, Idaho, Hempitecture continues to gain recognition for its commitment to sustainable innovation in building materials. The company was recently selected to receive $8.42 million from the U.S. Department of Energy to support the creation of an industrial fiber hemp processing and manufacturing facility in northeast Tennessee. In addition to this federal endorsement, Hempitecture received $1.1 million from the New York State Research and Development Authority and $1 million from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. These funds will be allocated to creating new facilities in these regions, further increasing the company’s potential impact on both coasts.
