Façade consulting group Desana Partners has announced the availability of the DURUS Standard brick tray façade system throughout the Northeastern U.S. construction market.
“The DURUS Standard system looks like a traditional brick veneer but offers several advantages, including dedicated water management and lower weight per square foot in comparison to traditional brick façade construction, Desana Partners President Steve Collins said. “There really isn’t a comparable system on the market today.”
The DURUS patented tooth design captures and secures bricks from multiple manufacturers, including Belden, Endicott, Metro, and other manufacturers without costly customization of the bricks. Stiffener ribs and uniform tray base design reinforce the structural strength of the tray and serve as guides to assure vertical and horizontal alignment. The spacing between each tray can be adjusted if necessary to help align with rough openings in the wall.
Its 20-gauge stainless steel assembly ensures the system lasts the full life of the building. DURUS trays are also available in Galvalume and G90 galvanized and provide options and choices for each project. The G90 galvanized are produced according to ASTM A653, which is the specification for zinc-coated sheet steel. The coating produced by continuous galvanizing is uniform, has sufficient ductility to withstand deep drawing or bending without damage to the coating, and consists almost entirely of pure zinc.
As a rainscreen attachment system, weep (drainage) holes are standard across the backside lower edge, and allDURUS trays have a dedicated have drainage holes at 1” on center to ensure immediate egress and no pooling or ponding of water. A 2” cavity between the backside of the trays and the insulation enables incidental moisture to freely drain out from the system.
Continuous airflow keeps the cavity and the system components dry and free from moisture, protecting the continuous insulation and air/moisture barrier. And the cavity can easily be expanded to accept as much as 10” of continuous insulation to accommodate the latest energy codes.
Additionally, the DURUS Standard system:
· Is compatible with any substrate, including steel or wood framing and CMU
· Is lightweight at 13 lbs. per square foot
· Sub-framing creates a vented drainage cavity, keeping the insulation and components dry
· Eliminates the need for relieving angles, lintels, and additional foundations
· Enables up to 10” of continuous insulation over the façade
· Allows for an uninterrupted and protected air/moisture barrier
· Meets or exceeds thermal performance required with ASHRAE 90.01
· Can be installed in inclement weather with no tenting required
