The Roofing Alliance announced the top six teams who will be competing during the International Roofing Expo® (IRE) in San Antonio, Texas, on Feb. 20, 2025.  The teams will present their proposals to a panel of esteemed judges on Thursday, February 20 beginning at 8 a.m. in room 221 A/B at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
 
 The schools participating in the competition are:

  • Auburn University - Team Members: Larry Jackson Fuhrman, Graham Roh (team alternate), Abraham Roman, John Adam Singleton and Arjun Varadhan (team captain); Faculty Advisor: Professor Kenneth Sands; Team Mentor: Paige Harvill, Nations Roof
  • Bradley University - Team Members: Erik Avila (team alternate), Uriel De La Torre (team captain), Francesco Fricano, Matthew Leazer and Ethan Sountris; Faculty Advisor: Professor Pedram Ghannad; Team Mentor: Alex Hernandez, Clark Roofing Co.
  • California Polytechnic State University - Team Members: Amy Chen, Blake Elijah Hanson, Peyton Hawley, Alexa Perez (team captain) and JT Rich (team alternate); Faculty Advisor: Professor Jeong Woo; Team Mentor: Rudy Gutierrez, Shell Roofing Solutions
  • Clemson University - Team Members: Tyler Brothers, Sam Davis, Drake Hamlin and Alyssa Owens (team captain); Faculty Advisor: Dr. Dhaval Gajjar; Team Mentor: Will Fort, Eskola Roofing
  • Texas A&M University - Team Members: John Falavolito (team captain), Grayson Headley (team alternate), Ryan Kennick, Hogan Leftwich and Weston Mounce; Faculty Advisor: Dr. Zhenyu Zhang; Team Mentor: Kyle Cahill, King of Texas Roofing Company
  • University of North Florida - Team Members: Cheyenne Campbell (team captain), Michaela Colton, Fallon Harris, Elma Mesic and Vanja Muzdeka (team alternate); Faculty Advisor: Professor Aiyin Jiang; Team Mentor: Marshall Hall, Childers Roofing & Sheet Metal – A Tecta America Company LLC
The competition project, provided by Beldon Roofing Co., San Antonio, challenges teams to create a comprehensive bid proposal for the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel. Teams researched the chosen project, submitted a qualified bid package proposal, and will provide an oral presentation to illustrate their roofing, project management, estimating and safety knowledge. The winning teams and presenters will be recognized on stage during the NRCA Industry Awards and Reception on February 20 from 5 – 7 p.m.
