SPRI, Inc., the trade association representing the manufacturers of single-ply roofing systems and related component materials, will host a 6-hour Wind Design Seminar on October 16, 2024, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte Concord, in Concord, NC.

The session will provide a detailed overview of how wind affects buildings, including practical examples observed during post storm investigations of roofing performance, and will include: 

  • Pre-session introductory video 
  • Review of ASCE 7 versions and changes 
  • Potential Impact of FM PLPDS* 1-28 & 1-29 
  • An overview of current and working SPRI Standards
  • Demonstration of DORA® and RoofNav systems 

The Wind Design Seminar will be presented by a diverse list of industry experts from SPRI member companies, including:

  • Chadwick Collins, technical director of SPRI
  • Brian Chamberlain, architect/code specialist, Carlisle Construction Materials, Inc.
  • Colin Griswold, codes approvals engineering leader, OMG Roofing Products
  • Sean Koren, EPDM product engineer, Holcim Building Envelope
  • Bob LeClare, director of perimeter edge, ATAS International, Inc.
  • Chris Mader, code & certification manager, Blue Rider Fiberboard.

The full Seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a Beginner’s ‘Introduction to Wind Design’ session, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and a lunch break from 12 noon to 1 p.m. A networking reception will follow the full seminar from 5 to 6 p.m. 

In addition, the seminar will offer IIBEC and/or AIA learning credits. The beginner’s session will offer 1.0 IIBEC CEH Credit or 1.0 AIA Learning Credit, and the full seminar will offer 5.0 IIBEC CEH Credits or 5.0 AIA Learning Credits.
