Knight Wall Systems announced the launch of ANKIT™, a proprietary new fastener to be used in conjunction with Knight’s CI® and HCI systems to further aid in overcoming the challenges of thermal bridging and wind-driven rain.

“Knight’s stock in trade has always been maximum thermal isolation, and we do it better than anyone else,” Knight General Manager Brian Nelson said. “ANKIT simply takes energy efficiency and moisture management to the next level.”

ANKIT is essentially a high-performance screw and thermal isolation tube. The wedge tip feature of the polycarbonate tube is expressly designed to aid the water resistive barrier’s (WRB) ability to keep moisture from penetrating the envelope.

ANKIT is available with a thread point (TP), ideal for wood stud, concrete and CMU applications; or a light-duty drill point (LD) to fasten to steel studs. The screw component is case-hardened and ASTM A510-compliant tempered carbon steel with an HCR® double barrier coating for high corrosion resistance. The isolation tube is made of high strength polycarbonate.

ANKIT product features include:

  • ASTM E331 (water penetration): Multiple assemblies of various insulations and air/water barrier combinations have been tested up to a 25 PSF pressure differential with no leakage observed
  • Clean puncture through water-resistive barriers (WRB) for increased performance
  • Stabilizes fastener during install to reduce wobbling and other installation instabilities
  • Thermal break between fastener and girt
  • Case-hardened and tempered screw for easy installation and long-term durability
  • Six-lobe internal drive offers excellent bit engagement during installation, especially in high torque applications
