//3877 announced the addition of two new team members, interior designers Sam Painter and Kelsey Wylie. The new hires are part of the continued effort to accelerate the firm's growth, demonstrating firm partners’ David Shove-Brown, David Tracz, and Ryan Petyak’s continued investment in the cultivation of young talent in the interest of advancing the design profession.
“In growing //3877, we seek out passionate professionals who not only align with the ethos of our firm, but those who will challenge our existing perspectives and approaches to drive us towards a more innovative future,” says David Shove-Brown, partner at //3877.
Sam Painter joins //3877 with a bachelor’s degree in interior design from the University of Oklahoma and a drive for creating safe, welcoming, and equitable spaces. While at school, Sam interned with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill as well as Benham, where he developed hands-on technical and creative skills that he will apply to his new role at the D.C. firm. Crediting his passion for helping others as his inspiration to pursue a career in the A&D industry, Sam is eager to work across project typologies, collaborating alongside his team members and contributing to presentations, product specifications, and various software needs.
A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Kelsey Wylie brings experience as a design intern with Brillhart Architecture, where she cultivated proficiency in design development, drafting, space planning, and model making. Interior design is second nature to Kelsey, inspired by her mother’s own career in the field. The aspiring designer sought to explore a profession in interior design after visiting project sites and learning about the process from her mother, a fellow interior designer. At //3877, Kelsey looks forward to diving right in, working with her fellow team members and specializing on hospitality projects.
As interior designers, Sam and Kelsey will work closely with //3877’s senior design team on the firm’s robust portfolio of projects, particularly in the hospitality realm. These new hires come on the heels of the firm’s summer interns Anosha Fatima from Virginia Tech, Christianna Tran from Marymount University, and Alie Gibson from the University of Virginia rounding out their time with the firm. Looking to the future, //3877 continues its journey to drive the industry forward by investing in up-and-coming talent and those who have a wealth of industry experience.
“The key to staying in tune with the ever-evolving needs of our industry is crafting a team willing not only to try new things, but to learn from those around them. We’re excited to witness how the addition of Sam and Kelsey will continue to foster this evolution for our firm.” said David Tracz, partner at //3877.
