The Slag Cement Association announced the addition of Texas Lehigh Cement Company as its newest member company. Texas Lehigh will be starting production at a new slag cement facility in Houston, Texas this summer.
Texas Lehigh Cement Company, a fifty-fifty joint venture between Heidelberg Materials North America and Eagle Materials Inc., recently announced that the construction of its new slag cement facility in Houston is substantially complete. With this new facility, Texas Lehigh Cement Company strengthens its cementitious footprint in the fast-growing Texas market while meaningfully reducing the carbon intensity of its product portfolio.
“We are thrilled to have the Texas Lehigh Cement Company join the Slag Cement Association,” stated Nick Brimley, Marketing Director of SCA. “Their new facility in Houston is a clear indication of the growing demand for slag cement in the concrete industry.”
“We are pleased to be members of the Slag Cement Association,” said David Sobczak, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Texas Lehigh Cement Company. “We look forward to working with the SCA and leveraging the excellent educational and promotional resources as we develop the Texas market to integrate more slag into concrete mixtures and push for more sustainable construction.”
The Slag Cement Association is an organization of companies that produce and ship slag cement in the United States; these shipments represent more than 95% of all slag cement used in U.S. concrete.
