Global design firm Perkins Eastman welcomes Alkis Klimathianos, AIA, to the firm as a principal in its New York studio. With 25 years of experience, Klimathianos is an accomplished design leader who is focused on fostering a sense of community and enhancing peoples’ lives through the built environment.
With a wealth of expertise, Klimathianos has developed a design portfolio that spans across a multitude of programs, typologies, scales, and regions; he has worked on projects both domestic and foreign, small and large, private and public. After earning a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, he gained valuable experience at leading architecture firms in New York and Washington, DC, honing his managerial skills while designing innovative projects.
In particular, Klimathianos has extensive experience with large, mixed-use projects, including multifamily and high-rise residential work, as well as a range of hospitality projects, Class A office towers, and campuses. In addition, he has worked on various urban design projects and master plans in both urban and suburban areas across a broader scale.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Alkis to the team,” says Nick Leahy, AIA, co-CEO and executive director of Perkins Eastman. “He brings an innate talent as a designer and a generous open approach to working with everyone around him. It’s clear he’ll be a valuable asset to us not only here in New York, but to the firm as a whole.”
Klimathianos is just as keen: “What I love most about this work is the emphasis on collaboration, whether that’s with the clients, the stakeholders, and especially with the design team itself. Perkins Eastman is known as a firm that leads with collaboration and innovation to ultimately design a better future, and that’s exactly the philosophy I abide by too. I’m eager to get to work.”
Klimathianos is a member of the New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and he lectures at the Center for Architecture in New York City. Perkins Eastman is delighted to welcome him to the team.
