Katz Architecture announces Project Architect Ivan Silva, AIA has been promoted to Associate, Facade Compliance Specialist. A natural progression, Ivan received his Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector (QEWI) certification in October of 2023, broadening the firm’s exterior services and technical expertise. With the firm’s focus on the intersection of architectural and technical design, Ivan will continue supporting Katz Architecture’s expanding portfolio in exterior envelope work, preservation, and restoration, while spearheading the firm’s growing facade division.

Silva’s QEWI license increases the firm’s capacity to cooperate with processes related to New York City’s Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP), from inspection and FISP report filing through construction and remediation. In an era marked by heightened scrutiny of building safety standards, Ivan's proficiency in this area underscores the firm’s pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity and longevity of New York's architectural landscape. 

“I’m incredibly excited about transitioning into this new role with my QEWI license. I’ve always been inspired by the nuts and bolts of a building so this allows me to dive deeper into doing what I love,” says Silva. “Alongside my colleagues at Katz Architecture, we can holistically service our clients even more than before, offering additional facade capabilities to preserve New York City’s landmark charm and architectural character.” 

Prior to joining Katz Architecture in 2017, Ivan worked on large-scale construction projects for New York City’s School Construction Authority. With an inherent interest in the technical aspects of building development and design, his later pursuit of an architectural career presented a natural transition given his prior industry experience. Through his work at Katz Architecture, Ivan will continue to leverage his extensive background in construction and his profound understanding of architectural intricacies to further elevate the firm's prominence in delivering exceptional project solutions.
