Polyglass U.S.A., Inc. hosted a fourth-grade class from Wahneta Elementary School on a field trip Friday, November 17th, 2023. The field trip provided an exclusive opportunity for the students to delve into the world of roofing manufacturing, innovation, and hands on demonstrations.
Accompanied by their teachers, the students were warmly welcomed by the enthusiastic Polyglass team, leading them through an informative and exciting day. The itinerary featured a comprehensive tour of the Polyglass plant, unveiling state-of-the-are technologies and production processes used in crafting roofing membranes. This exclusive behind-the-scene experience provided an insightful glimpse into the manufacturing facility.
“We were thrilled to welcome the students from Wahneta Elementary School to Polyglass for an educational experience that we hope sparked their curiosity about innovation and roofing manufacturing.” Said Mat Snell, Sr. Engineering Manager at Polyglass, “Seeing their excitement as they learned about our operations and the technologies was truly inspiring.”
Following the plant tour, the students and teachers also participated in demonstrations on Polyglass’ self-adhered and torch membranes. They also learned how the Polyglass ADESO® products resulted in a faster, more safer installation than traditional torch down products.
The highlight of the day was a hands-on activity where students crafted bird houses using Polyglass Elastoflex SA P self-adhered granulated cap sheet. The students, with the help of the Polyglass staff and teachers learned how to measure and properly apply the membrane, combining creativity with practical application techniques.
The field trip was designed to complement the elementary school’s curriculum, providing students with hands-on experiences that connected classroom learning with real-world applications. It aimed to inspire curiosity and interest in fields related to science, technology, engineering, and manufacturing.
The collaboration between Polyglass and Wahneta Elementary School highlights the importance of hands-on educational experiences that introduces students to various career paths and industries.
