Award-winning multi-disciplinary architecture and design firm MBH Architects welcomes Cynthia Hirsch Ortiz as Business Development Manager, New York City. In her new role, Cynthia will focus on developing and managing new and existing business opportunities within the region—seeking out potential leads in luxury residential, retail, restaurant, hospitality, and workspace projects.
Market growth has accelerated within the last year,” says John McNulty, CEO and Founding Principal of MBH Architects. “In New York City especially, business opportunities are robust, and Cynthia is the ideal fit to help us grow and tap into new markets. We are excited to welcome Cynthia and are confident that her relationships and resources will drive us into new heights.”
Prior to embarking on her journey into the architecture and design space, Cynthia worked in print design and as a production artist for a retail visual merchandising company. Through her roles and involvement in the Retail Design Institute, NEWH, and Shop! Association, Cynthia met many people on all sides of the industry—retailers, vendors, architects—and gradually built up her network and cultivated her business development expertise. Due to her innate ability to nurture key relationships combined with her powerhouse enthusiasm and trailblazer attitude Cynthia amassed an extensive network and in 2018 started her own company, Collaborative Design Strategies. It was there that Cynthia worked with retailers to find the right suppliers to partner with and solidified herself as a leader in the ever-changing retail design industry. Cynthia’s passionate expertise for the industry aligns with MBH, a firm that consistently ranks among the top ten retail architects nationwide, making her the perfect candidate to lead business development for MBH’s Manhattan office.
“This is an exciting time to be working in the architecture and design industry, as it constantly evolves to adjust to post-COVID and generational design trends,” said Cynthia. “I am confident that my industry connections, paired with MBH’s extensive portfolio and team of talented designers, will help the firm grow and prosper in new and different ways.”
Cynthia is no stranger to educating, mentoring, and aiding team members in career building and networking opportunities. In addition to expanding MBH Architects’ presence on the East Coast as a premier design firm, she will collaborate with teams internally to develop new business development strategies. She is particularly looking forward to working on more restaurant projects, getting involved in luxury residential, and tapping into new markets.
Cynthia is the International President of the Retail Design Institute, a board member of SHOP! Association, past Chair of the Creative Council, Women's League Council, and co-chair of the 2017 PAVE Gala.
