Kingspan today announces two new Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for architects, engineers, contractors and project teams. BIM Bundle and BIM Configure allow access to entire product lines, giving designers the data they need to model building design and performance.
BIM is a process for creating, managing, and visualizing information about a construction project throughout the project’s lifecycle. A virtual BIM model offers a digital description of all aspects of a project – an important feature to help teams collaborate on the most up-to-date designs and product information. BIM models can even create digital twins of buildings to model the entire project before construction begins.
BIM Bundle makes Kingspan’s most common insulated metal panel (IMP) product families available in the popular Revit format. Through Kingspan’s new tool, files are delivered in project-specific bundles through Autodesk BIM 360 in both LOD 200 and LOD 300. Design professionals can specify product attributes, such as panel thickness, width, color and insulation core.
BIM Configure is an online tool that allows architects and design professionals to configure individual insulated metal panels to the exact specifications they need with more than a dozen parameters, such as length, thickness, insulation core and steel gauge. The configured IMP can then be exported in a choice of more than 140 file formats to suit a variety of design software packages. The configured product can even be viewed in augmented reality if using BIM Configure on a smartphone or tablet providing a deeper dimension for product visualization.
“Kingspan’s new BIM Bundle and BIM Configure tools provide ease of mind to clients working on complex projects across teams,” says Karim Muri, Vice President, Marketing Services and Strategy Development. “The tools give our clients the ultimate flexibility allowing them to get the objects they need in the format that they need. Plus, our Technical Services team is also always on hand to help with technical advice and assist with product selection.”
