Simpson Strong-Tie, the leader in engineered structural connectors and building solutions, joins other industry associations and organizations in supporting the International Code Council 42nd annual Building Safety Month this month.
As climate disasters increase in severity and frequency, we encourage the industry and the general public to learn more about the ways we can all participate in and support recovery efforts in the aftermath of a disaster.
Building Safety Month is a public awareness campaign held every May to help individuals, families and businesses understand the efforts that are needed to create safe and sustainable structures. This year’s campaign theme is “Safety for All: Building Codes in Action.” Weekly topics include “Planning for a Safe and Sustainable Tomorrow”; “Exploring Careers in Building Safety”; “Understanding the Four Phases of Emergency Management”; and “Creating a Safe and Abundant Water Supply.” Simpson Strong-Tie is a Week 3 cosponsor — “Understanding the Four Phases of Emergency Management.” The goal of this campaign is to reinforce the importance of adopting modern, regularly updated building codes, as well as what it takes for families and businesses to create safe and sustainable structures.
“Our company mission to help communities design and build safer, stronger structures is aligned with the goals and purpose of Building Safety Month. We're proud to partner with ICC on this annual campaign to educate the industry and the public about the importance of designing and building safer, stronger homes and buildings,” said CEO Karen Colonias.
Simpson Strong-Tie has several resources to help support the initiatives of Building Safety Month, including educational materials on high-wind and earthquake-resistant design and construction as well as on building and retrofitting code-compliant wood decks. These resources can be found on the Simpson Strong-Tie Building Strong blog.
