NELSON Worldwide, award-winning architecture, design, and strategy firm, welcomes Balmiki Bhattacharya as industrial practice leader. Based in Seattle, Balmiki will spearhead client solutions and integrate design programs to maximize operations and investments while also helping create a strategic, sustainable plan for the firm’s future.

“We understand industrial facilities are the core of every business, especially today considering ongoing concerns surrounding supply chain gaps and environmental issues,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NELSON Worldwide, John “Ozzie” Nelson Jr. “We’re excited for Balmiki to lead our Industrial Practice, enabling our firm to provide our clients with innovative ideas while further strengthening the entirety of the practice.”

Balmiki joins NELSON with over two decades of experience in design, construction, and team management. As a seasoned leader with experience in diverse organizations, he will build upon the strong foundation of the industrial practice while increasing awareness at a national level. Balmiki brings leadership and creative problem-solving skills with expertise in managing budgets and developing competitive growth strategies. His deep understanding of both the practice and business side of architecture brings a balanced perspective and knowledge to client demands and expectations.

“Architects and designers have a responsibility to impact the built environment positively,” comments Balmiki. “By joining such a well-established firm with such a great geographical reach, I am excited to continue shaping the built environment while growing the industrial practice as a whole.”

In his new role, Balmiki will bring a deep understanding of the current state of business and examine growth opportunities to create a clear plan for the future. His passion lies in omni-channel retailing, a topic that was successfully executed only a few times pre-pandemic. As consumer behavior and the retail industry continue to change, it’s important to Balmiki that the industrial practice team can create a seamless consumer experience across channels.

Before joining NELSON, Balmiki worked at MG2, where he spent the past several years as an Associate Principal leading a team working on complex industrial and mixed-use projects in various phases for prominent developers, retailers, and e-commerce companies.
