SPRI, the association representing sheet membrane and component suppliers to the commercial roofing industry, is revising, and re-canvassing a key technical document for re-approval as American National Standards. In accordance with SPRI’s ANSI approved procedures, standards are reviewed and reapproved every five years.
ANSI/SPRI RP-14 “Wind Design Standard for Vegetative Roofing Systems.” ANSI/SPRI RP-14 provides a method of designing for wind uplift resistance of vegetative roofing systems. Growth media, stones, pavers or combinations thereof provide the ballast or weight needed for vegetative system(s) to resist wind uplift forces. Thus, this standard helps identify the ballast type to resist uplift forces, as well as drainage options. This standard was last approved as an ANSI Standard in 2016.
