As we continue the countdown toward the kickoff of the 41st annual Building Safety Month, the International Code Council and its members encourage those interested in building safety to join in this year’s virtual activities. Featuring four weeks of educational panel sessions, seminars and more, the goal of the global campaign is to raise awareness about the important role of building codes in making our communities safe, resilient and sustainable.
With weekly themes – Energy and Innovation, Training the Next Generation, Water Safety and Disaster Preparedness – Building Safety Month 2021 is addressing crucial topics that are currently top-of-mind for society. After all, our buildings – whether commercial or residential – are continuing to experience an evolution as our needs evolve and building codes and standards continue to play a pivotal role in meeting these new demands.
“As a leader in building safety, we understand the importance modern and innovative building codes have on society, especially as the emphasis continues to be placed on creating safe and sustainable buildings,” said Code Council Board of Directors President Greg Wheeler, CBO. “Building Safety Month both celebrates the strides we’ve made in building safety, as well as raises awareness for the critical role of code officials and building codes and standards in ensuring the structural integrity of our buildings.”
This year’s foundation sponsor is the American Gas Association, while other sponsors include 4 Leaf, Inc, American Concrete Institute and State Farm.
