Award-winning architecture and construction web video series Design Vs. Build today announced the debut of its third episode: TheatreSquared, a brand-new, 50,000 square-foot, modern-design professional theatre that recently opened in Fayetteville.

Hosted by Design Vs. Build co-creator Ben Roberts, directed by co-creator James Burniston, and sponsored by Kebony North America, this segment focuses on a project unlike any other in the American theatre community, which unites two state-of-the-art theatres, a dedicated rehearsal space, offices, education and community space, on-site workshops for scenery, props and costumes, eight dedicated guest artist apartments, outdoor terraces at three levels, and an open-all-day café/bar on an active corner between Fayetteville’s downtown square and the University of Arkansas’s campus.

Design Vs. Build: TheatreSquared features Joanna Bell, the theatre’s director of marketing and communications; co-founder and artistic director Bob Ford; executive director Martin Miller and associate general manager Shannon Jones; with architects Lissa So and Jonathan Marvel; along with product superintendent Morris Vines and project manager Mario Beltran of Baldwin & Shell.

The design is decidedly modern and sustainable and was created to interface with downtown Fayetteville, with approachable but innovative organic materiality, transparency to the street, and an open-to-all ethos.

The Design Vs. Build web series, launched in 2020 and produced and presented by Kebony, tells the story of a different residential or commercial project in each episode with interviews from architects, designers, builders and more, as they talk about the project from their point of view. The series was the recipient of two Gold and one Silver Telly Awards, plus Gold and Silver w3 Awards in 2020.
