The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) announced the winners of the 2020 Member of the Year and Emerging Leader of the Year, both of whom embody NFRC’s dedication to fair, accurate, and credible ratings for windows, doors, and skylights. The award winners were announced at the NFRC Fall Membership Virtual Meeting on Oct. 19, 2020.
Dariush Arasteh Memorial Member of the Year Award:
The Dariush Arasteh Memorial Member of the Year Award is given to someone who has innovative contributions and insight that is integral to the development of the fenestration industry. The award recognizes the recipient’s talent, achievements, and notable contributions that support the mission of NFRC within the last calendar year.
This year’s recipient is Jim Allardyce of ODL, Inc., who has been active in the fenestration industry for more than 15 years. His contributions as chairman of the Blinds Between Glass Task group helped the group develop two new optional ratings presented to the NFRC membership.
“Jim makes every effort to engage other members throughout the process, and despite this year being his first year in the task group chair position, he performed at a high level, putting in a huge amount of prep work and research that steered the group in the right direction,” said NFRC CEO Deb Callahan.
Emerging Leader Award:
The Emerging Leader Award recognizes NFRC members who have recently taken on leadership roles and who have been identified by other members as well as staff as someone who demonstrates leadership skills and the potential to become an influential leader.
Steve Coble from WESTLab is the 2020 recipient. Coble has been in the industry for more than 15 years, but within the last five years has become more involved with NFRC. He volunteered to be the co-chair of the Simulators Task Group and chaired the Linear Energy Analysis for Fenestration or LEAFF simulation manual work group to support staff with the initial draft.
“Steve brings such enthusiasm and energy to his new leadership roles and is a true example of an engaged member. Through his increased involvement, Steve has helped put us in a position to do even bigger and better things with our new LEAFF methodology,” Callahan said.
