METROCON Expo & Conference is currently seeking submissions to be considered as continuing education courses for its 2018 event, which is taking place Thursday, August 9 & Friday, August 10 at Dallas Market Hall in Dallas, Texas.
METROCON is the largest not-for-profit, self-produced, volunteer-driven, design specification-focused regional expo and conference in the USA. This marks the event's 16th year, as well as the second year the following five associations serving the built environment have joined forces to plan and execute it (listed in alphabetical order): ASID Texas Chapter, ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, CSI Dallas Chapter, NEWH Dallas Chapter, and USGBC Texas Chapter.
Since its inception in 2004, METROCON has donated $1.4 million+ to organizations and foundations focusing on the built environment.
The Committee of A&D industry volunteers who govern the show is seeking a variety of topics as to serve interior designers, architects and other essential industry members working within all market segments – i.e., education, healthcare, hospitality, institutional, multifamily, residential, retail/store planning, and workplace/corporate.
According to METROCON18 Presiding Chair Annette Mallard, RID, ASID, with Workspace Marketing Group: "This year we are looking to integrate even more unique panel discussions composed of those serving a variety of roles within the built environment. For example, we want to see firm practice leaders team up with developers, consultants, end users and/or manufacturers to examine project challenges and successes.
Architects and interior designers are seeking honest, transparent information, as well as inspiration and advice, about how to work with others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals within our increasingly collaborative industry. It's often hard to find these kinds of candid conversations – especially for CE credit – so we want to serve our region's design practitioners by offering them at METROCON."
Presentations do not have to be pre-approved by AIA, EDAC, GBCI, and/or IDCEC to be considered. Due to the number of Registered Architects [RA] and Registered Interior Designers [RID] who attend the conference, however, presentations with Health, Safety & Welfare, Barrier-Free and Sustainable Design content are in high demand because they qualify with the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners for annual RA and RID continuing education requirements.
All submissions take place online through the Call for Presentations page of the event's website, metroconexpo.org, The deadline to submit is Friday, March 2, 2018 at 5:00 PM (CST), and submitters will be notified by May 1 if they have been chosen.
