Global architecture and design firm Perkins+Will has named Jason Chan as Southwest Regional Practice Leader for Science and Technology. In this role, Chan will work closely with clients across Texas and in neighboring states to ensure design excellence and seamless delivery of all science and technology projects. He succeeds Raymond Beets, who served in the same role out for 13 years and who will retire later this year.

“Jason is a listener and problem solver, and goes the extra mile to make sure our clients are comfortable,” said Beets. “His planning, leadership and collaboration have resulted in many successful and award-winning projects.”

A graduate of Washington State University, Chan joined Perkins+Will in 2006 and has been part of multiple award-winning project designs. His expertise spans numerous laboratory types, ranging from higher education instructional labs to engineering, biomedical research, and translational research facilities.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to help our clients all around the region advance scientific research and discovery through thoughtful, purposeful, and strategic design,” says Chan.

Chan has worked on major projects with institutions such as Texas Children’s Hospital, Texas A&M University, Louisiana State University, Texas Tech University, and several projects within the University of Texas System. He’s published articles in Healthcare Design, American Laboratory and Texas Architect magazines, and recently presented at Texas College & University Facilities and Society for College and University Planning conferences.
