GCP Applied Technologies Inc., formerly Grace Construction Products, announced the launch of Perm-A-Barrier NPS Wall Membrane, a primer-less, self-adhered air and vapor barrier membrane.
Perm-A-Barrier NPS is a primer-less impermeable air barrier membrane designed to save installation time and money. In field trials, the speed of installation was reported to be twice as fast as comparable membranes that require a primer. The primer-less feature also eliminates cleanup time and additional material costs, as there is no need to purchase primer, rollers and cleaning supplies, resulting in a reduction of waste and hazardous chemicals on the job site. Perm-A-Barrier NPS provides a faster, easier and tidier air barrier installation with significant savings to the contractor.
“GCP Applied Technologies is focused on developing products that simplify the installation and reduce costs while maintaining the high GCP standards for quality and environmental stewardship,” said Eric Velander, Director, Global Air Barriers. “We are excited to bring Perm-A-Barrier NPS to contractors and the design build industry. It not only protects buildings from the damaging effects of the elements, the elimination of a primer offers considerable savings to the contractor through faster application and lower material costs.”
Perm-A-Barrier NPS minimizes air and water vapor flow through a building’s exterior, preventing premature deterioration of the building’s envelope and enhancing thermal performance of the structure, thus saving energy costs. It is fire resistant, meeting the NFPA 285 fire standard, waterproof and air tight, exceeding the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) requirements for air barrier membranes. Perm-A- Barrier NPS is the latest innovation in the Perm-A-Barrier air barrier portfolio. All of the portfolio’s products are tested to the most stringent industry standards and have been installed on thousands of projects worldwide.
