S/L/A/M Construction Services (SLAM CS), a division of The S/L/A/M Collaborative, one of Connecticut’s leading design-build firms, has announced that September 30th will mark the company’s 20th anniversary of its founding.
In 1996, The S/L/A/M Collaborative founded SLAM CS as the firm recognized a benefit to clients’ project outcomes by offering a single solution for design and construction. SLAM believed that by taking on additional responsibility, they could achieve greater control of a project and therefore, better manage risk. The firm’s innovative design-build delivery method has earned a distinguished reputation and gained the trust and confidence of an array of clients in the independent education, healthcare and corporate markets.
SLAM CS’ first client, Kent School, saw the benefit of a single point of responsibility to better manage the balance of quality, aesthetic and budgets, compared to their experiences with other delivery methods. Kent School approved SLAM to design and build the renovation and expansion of their science building. Not only was the project delivered on time and under budget, it added value in the form of quality products and amenities that enhanced the overall teaching environment and longevity of the building. Since then, SLAM CS has delivered 13 additional projects on the Kent School campus, using the same integrated design-build approach.
