Hearing customer input, Covestro is introducing a new formulation of Bayseal CCX closed-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation; the new formulation provides greater spray control, high R-value and effective air sealing in a single pass. The higher lift formulation also has a smoother profile which will require less thermal barrier coating. These added benefits may help insulation contractors use less material and complete the application more quickly.
Bayseal CCX SPF is an ideal insulation choice for residential and commercial projects. Contractors can achieve R-28 in one pass at 4 inches, and can reach the prescriptive R-49 in two passes. Bayseal CCXP SPF is formulated specifically for cold climates and can be applied in temperatures as low as 30 degrees F. Both formulations can be spray-applied to walls, ceilings, floors, foundations, piping, unvented attics, and crawl spaces.
Bayseal CCX SPF expands by appoximately 40 times the liquid volume when sprayed, helping to effectively seal penetrations in the building envelope. Such air-sealing methods can reduce air leakage in a home by 83 percent and energy consumption by up to 40 percent, according to a study by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Bayseal CCX SPF meets mandatory code requirements and optional performance guidelines:
- Meets ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC 2009 requirements for continuous insulation
- Meets NFPA 285 requirements for incombustible commercial wall assemblies
- FEMA-accepted flood resistant insulation material
- Registered as a low-emitting insulation material with the Collaborative for High Performance Schools
Complete compliance and application details are contained in ICC-ESR 2072.
“We know architects and builders are under greater pressure than ever. Codes are stricter, owners are demanding higher performance, and profit margins are being squeezed,” according to Jeremy Parker, National Sales Manager for Covestro’s spray foam insulation and roofing systems business. “Our team works closely with all participants in the building process with the intent of greater education about the science behind an energy-efficient building, whether it’s a home or a hospital. Bayseal CCX SPF is the easy insulation choice to help everyone meet their goals. When they win, we win.”
