For nearly 40 years, Cleary Building Corp. has built high-quality custom, pre-engineered metal structures for clients across the country. Cleary structures are brought to life through its signature stress-free design and personalized construction service that perfectly matches a building to its owner. On November 18, 2015, Cleary sold its 100,000 building – a result of hard-work and lasting business partnerships with leading industry companies, including Valspar and Fabral.

After years of success and fast growth, it is fitting that the sale of Cleary’s 100,000 building will reside in Madison, Wisconsin, the company’s hometown. The milestone structure is 972 square-feet and features a unique round roof constructed of Petersen Aluminum PAC-CLAD Snap-On Standing Seam Panels coated in Valspar’s Fluropon SR in a vibrant Interstate Blue. Additionally, Fabral PRIMERIB corrugated steel panels coated in Valspar’s WeatherXL in Ash Grey were installed on the sides and ends of the structure, offering excellent exterior protection and a refined contrast of color.

WeatherXL, labeled as Enduracote for those purchasing the coating system through Fabral, is a coating widely recognized for its outstanding durability and provides exceptional resistance to chalking, fading and scratching. The coating boasts excellent weatherability, and superior color consistency and retention – ensuring Cleary’s 100,000 building can withstand the harsh Wisconsin winters and heavy use. When used on roof panels, the Fluropon Solar Reflective (SR) coating delivers an eco-friendly way to resist heat absorption from the sun, helping to lower energy cooling costs and keeping the building more comfortable. The solar reflective coating helped the project meet Energy Star®performance requirements.

Cleary’s Process for Success

Cleary Building Corp. began its operations as a small, family-owned business in 1978 in Verona, Wisconsin. After steadily expanding throughout Wisconsin and into Illinois, Cleary now operates across the United States and has constructed buildings in 44 states to date. Reaching 100,000 buildings sold is a major milestone for the company, and they share the special occasion with various partners within the architecture and construction marketplaces that have helped make the achievement possible.

“To reach and maintain the status as a leader within the building industry, it’s been important to surround ourselves with likeminded individuals and businesses. That’s why we’ve aligned ourselves with companies like Valspar and Fabral for decades,” said Mike Wuennemann, director of marketing for Cleary Building Corp. “At Cleary, we build solid, long-lasting relationships in order to create the best possible buildings for our clients.”

For nearly four decades, Cleary has forged a strong partnership with Fabral, a premium supplier of metal roofing and wall panels to help construct the majority of its 100,000 buildings. Built upon the shared vision of offering the highest standards in quality and customer satisfaction, Cleary and Fabral work in tandem to determine which metal roofing and wall panel products best fit clients’ needs. Through a steadfast partnership with Fabral, Cleary also formed a strong relationship with Valspar, an industry-leading manufacturer of architectural coil and extrusion coatings, which provide a spark of color and lasting durability to building exteriors.

“We are committed to working with the best products in the marketplace, and after working with Valspar for numerous years, we’ve come to know they offer our clients the best exterior building protection and color options available on the market,” said John Armstrong, general manager, Fabral. “It’s been great for our business!”

A large majority of Cleary’s projects over the past 20 years have featured Valspar’s WeatherXL coil coating. Hand selected for its attractive color palette and impressive durability, WeatherXL offers Cleary’s clients with a product that helps their buildings endure heavy wear and tear, while keeping the exterior aesthetically pleasing.

“One of our most important selling factors is the ability to offer 22 colors to our customers,” continued Wuennemann. “Twenty-two is a pretty substantial number in our industry, and provides our clients numerous options to meet their tastes and needs.”

After conducting industry research, Cleary discovered the 22 most popular architectural colors in the market, ranging from Classic Burgundy to Hartford Green. When kicking off a new project, the company utilizes its proprietary software called DreamMaker, which allows clients to customize building layouts and designs.

“Once the design is determined, DreamMaker allows clients to test various Valspar color combinations in order to get a visual representation of their structure before the shovel hits dirt,” said Wuennemann. “The color is the capstone of a building’s design, and combined with customized architecture from Cleary and premier metal material provided by Fabral, it completes the trifecta for success.”

One hundred thousand buildings sold is an incredible milestone, not only for Cleary, but its various industry partners like Fabral and Valspar. This sale is a true testament to the quality of product and premier customer service that is offered by each of the industry leading companies.
