CANTON, Mass. – Sika Sarnafil, a manufacturer of thermoplastic roofing and waterproofing membranes, announced the opening of a new 50,000-square-foot distribution center in Kansas City, Mo. that will improve product supply to customers in the central United States.
The center is expected to shorten delivery times and lower over-the-road transportation costs for many Sika Sarnafil applicator customers. For some customers, shipping times and transportation costs could be cut as much as 50 percent.
“This new distribution center improves our ability to service our customers in the center of the United States,” said Jim Rubenacker, Director of Customer Operations for Sika Sarnafil. “This facility brings our products closer to a variety of markets. Many more customers can get product sooner, potentially at lower transportation cost, due to the closer geography.”
The new distribution center also provides environmental benefits. Through the coordinated use of both trains and trucks, less diesel fuel is burned to transport the products, decreasing pollutants that impact air quality. The new distribution center joins two existing distribution hubs, one in Canton, Mass., and the second in Salt Lake City, Utah.
